"Thirsty” is a new narrative feature from writer/director Emily Abt. The film follows the upstart campaign of a gutsy public defender as she strives to unseat the incumbent mayor of Oakland and also keep her family intact. “Thirsty” won the Athena Award for scripts featuring outstanding female protagonists and was released by Gravitas Ventures in summer 2025.
“Thirsty” features knock-out performances by Jamie Neumann (“Down with the King”,”Atlanta”,”The Deuce”), action star Sung Kang (of “Fast & Furious” fame), the legendary Kyra Sedgwick, Tyler Lepley (“Ruth & Boaz”,”Harlem”,”The Haves & Have Nots”), Thora Birch (“American Beauty”,”Ghost World”) and Brandee Evans (star of the hit Starz show “P-Valley”).
